alice and fancy face were recorded during my last year at st fx using grady's shit guitar and neil's bass amp. no maps was recorded at bryanna's place in whitby. effects added in fruity loops. i used the name, the widow, for these.
i did these songs while in whitby using fruity loops and bryanna's keyboard. one is a remix of our flowers, which is from the perfect island objection group of songs
these tunes were recorded during second year at stfx. i did them all on vic's computer while he was gone studying. i think things turned out pretty well considering i was using a computer mic and fruity loops. stricknine lent me his guitar for this. i used the name THE PERFECT ISLAND OBJECTION for this.
these are some songs i did when i moved back home from whitby. a guy i worked with there gave me a copy of music software called reason. this is about as far as i got with it. still haven;'t bothered to properly name the songs.
during first year university jordan, neil and myself jammed and recorded some tunes. at this time jordan was in possesion of an electronic drum kit (vdrums... classic), so we (jordan) put everything on that so we could record onto his computer. i think neil came up with the name empire. we ended up doing 3 songs. im not sure if neil played bass on all the songs, i can't remember. the songs were: Portia, To the Moon, and Princess Sputnick.
Portia i guess was the first attempt at a post-rock genre sound. at the time we thought it was pretty sweet, while everyone else thought it was boring (which led to an internet fight with some shitty band that started with K). turns out it is pretty boring. parts of it i like, but as a whole... no. To the Moon turned out pretty good, but really needs vocals. the end guitar part is pretty boss sounding. Princess Sputnick is your basic rock song. i dont even know if jordan is aware of that song title haha. i think this was the only one neil played bass on. i can remember it took him forever to record his basslines, while i sat on the floor drinking beer, that my cousin trent dropped off for me, and laughing my ass off.
we also jammed some covers because we had this idea in our heads that we could play bar shows at school hahaha. i think we jammed: mogwai - xmas steps smashing pumpkins - the end is the beginning is the end the clash - guns of brixton bush - history black halos - ? dont know the name murder city devils - ? dont know the name
i'm pretty happy how these songs turned out. especially considering i was writing shitty acousitc songs prior to this.
girl in the snow - march 31 this is a song i did at the end of march. i've been really slow with getting back to the computer music and the girl in the snow moniker. this is the only one i've done so far this year. the kool-aid masquerade - paper spiders this is a song me and bryanna did when we spent the summer at her parents place in whitby. i think its a really great ambient track. we used bryanna's old keyboard, a bag of change and bryanna's voice with lots of reverb that sounds like a theremin. the widow - moon this is a song i did during my last year at st fx. jamie grady had lent me a crappy guitar he had and i was using neil's bass amp. i just made a bunch of loops and doused them with reverb and pieced this together in fruity loops, adding a synth pad near the end.
